I do realize how much work and time is involved with fostering. Puppies are a lot of work and dogs can take a while to be adopted out. But if we can save just one life isn’t it worth it? The feeling you get when you save a life is priceless!

Training Philosophy

We believe in only positive reinforcement we do not knowingly adopt our dogs to homes where short sighted, relationship harming techniques or methods are utilized, such as invisible or electric fences, choke or prong collars, electronic or bark collars. We recommend a harness for comfort and control, and can make one available to you. We deplore the use of de-barking as barbaric and cruel.

Positive and consistent training is associated with fewer behavior problems and greater obedience than methods that involve punishment and/or encourage human dominance.

The Do Over Dogs A Second Chance At Life depends solely on foster homes to help us rescue dogs. Fosters are highly needed and valued. We are committed to supporting our fosters to enhance their rescue experience and to guarantee that each dog is adoptable and adopted.

Foster Contract

We need you to bring the foster dog to all Do Over Dogs adoption events. If you are unable to do so, contact someone from Do Over Dogs to make arrangements for the dog to be available for pickup and drop off by another Do Over Dogs volunteer.

Veterinarian information:
I understand that Do Over Dogs has veterinarians that provide discounted services. Adoption Application:
I understand that Do Over Dogs processes all adoption applications in the order they are received. The goal is always the best match for the dog. I understand that if I would like to adopt the dog that I am fostering, I need to submit an adoption application as soon as I have made up my mind. My application will be processed as any other application, in the order it was received, and will not be given priority over an application submitted ahead of mine.

The following are the terms associated with fostering for Do Over Dogs A Second Chance At Life:
Do Over Dogs determines the criteria for fostering, decides which animals are eligible for foster care, and appoints foster caregivers.
Do Over Dogs requires you to fill out and sign a Foster Application/Contract, as well as have a home inspection in order to be eligible to foster.
Do Over Dogs staff can refuse a foster at any time for any reason.
Do Over Dogs fosters can refuse a foster at any time for any reason.
Do Over Dogs staff will inform you of any medical treatments to be administered, the anticipated length of the foster-care period, the objectives of each particular placement (restoring health, rearing to adoptable age, socialization, etc), and any other restrictions or expectations we may have.
Do Over Dogs fosters are expected to keep the animal safe and secure, return it to Do Over Dogs when requested to do so, meet with potential adopters, provide adequate exercise, and otherwise care for the animal.
The foster parent is responsible for transporting animals to and from Do Over Dogs and/or Do Over Dogs approved veterinarians as needed.
Do Over Dogs fosters shall NOT promise a dog to any potential adopters or imply that they have any say in the adoption process.
Do Over Dogs retains ownership of all dogs placed in foster-care and will make all decisions regarding adoption, placement, and medical treatment of the animal(s) being fostered.
The foster parent may also be responsible for transporting dogs to/from adoption events as requested.
Foster parents are requested to provide routine updates as well as insight into the foster animal's personality and behavior.
